Help Protect Migrating Birds

Subject Line: Support the Local Communities; Bird Habitat Stewardship Act (H.R.3276)

Dear Representative [Names will automatically be added]:

As a constituent who supports bird conservation and healthy communities, I’m requesting that you cosponsor the Local Communities; Bird Habitat Stewardship Act (H.R.3276). The cities and towns in our district provide important areas for birds throughout the year, including nesting, migratory, and wintering habitats. The presence of birds in our communities improves our quality of life, and they provide opportunities for our residents to connect with the natural world.

Unfortunately, our bird populations are in decline, with 3 billion birds lost in North America since 1970. We have significant opportunities and responsibilities in our urban areas to do what we can to give a boost to our bird populations.

The bill codifies the existing Urban Bird Treaty program managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. This program supports partnerships to make our cities and towns healthier for birds and for people, by helping to improve local parks, reducing hazards for birds such as building collisions, and educating and engaging our community with nature.

I hope you will cosponsor this legislation to help provide durable and enhanced support for our local communities and bird habitats.

Sincerely,

Get Out and Vote!
