Support Section 453 and American Farmers today

I am writing to respectfully urge your support of Section 453 in the House Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill (H.R. 4754). This provision would support American farmers by preserving EPA’s gold standard pesticide regulatory process, while still allowing states to enact sale and use restrictions under current law.

American farmers depend on the EPA’s rigorous scientific evaluations for safe, effective tools to manage invasive weeds, maintain crop yields, and protect the sustainability of their land. These farming innovations are the product of decades of scientific research and are central to delivering a reliable supply of healthy, affordable food to American families.

Section 453 reaffirms EPA’s role as the scientific authority on pesticide approvals and includes language supported by more than 365 agricultural organizations from across the U.S. Without this provision, farmers may be forced to revert to outdated, costly, and unsustainable practices that would drive up grocery prices for American consumers, jeopardize farmers’ livelihoods, and put our nation’s food security at risk.

As your constituent, I urge you to stand with American farmers by supporting the language of Section 453 in any appropriations or agricultural legislation considered by Congress.
