Support Sands NY

Dear Members of the Nassau County Legislature,

As a Long Island resident, I wholly support the Sands’s proposal for an integrated resort – with casino gaming – in Nassau County, as Long Island is in dire need of a new economic engine that will create high paying quality jobs, lower our taxes, and enhance our quality of life.

The Sands New York proposal is unlike any project ever proposed on Long Island – it not only will create tens of millions of dollars in tax revenue but will create over 5,000 quality jobs with long-term employment opportunities for Long Island families and young people. It has the power to attract tourists from across the region and beyond as well as provide entertainment options for Long Islanders that presently do not exist.

Funds generated from the Sands New York integrated resort can be used for tax relief and expanded services that will support the most vulnerable Long Islanders, impacting quality-of-life programming that will bring a much-needed financial boost to our neighborhoods.

Sands has demonstrated their commitment to being a responsible corporate citizen through their extensive community engagement efforts over the last two years of the development process on Long Island. Their outreach and partnership with the community is unmatched – from their convening work groups to give community meaningful input into the development of the site, to their youth empowerment programs to local business engagement, to their goal of being the greenest building on Long Island, Sands’s commitment to community has been clear.

The Sands New York proposal will inject economic vitality into Long Island and create hundreds of millions of gaming tax revenue for Long Island and the State.  I stand strongly in support of the Sands project and urge you in your elected capacity to not allow Nassau County to miss this transformative opportunity for all of our futures.
