Support our Farmers

Dear [legislator greeting],

As one of your constituents, I’m writing to urge you to support Mississippi farmers and SB 2472. This bill is crucial to ensure continued access to safe, approved crop protection products, like herbicides, which are vital tools for farmers across our state. 

Farmers rely on these tools, including glyphosate—the most commonly used herbicide—to reliably grow their crops, keep yields high, and ensure a robust and affordable domestic food supply. Without these tools, food inflation could more than double, leading to even higher prices at the grocery store—something we can’t afford.

Every leading health regulator around the world has repeatedly concluded that glyphosate products can be used safely. Yet, a lack of legislative certainty has fueled relentless and often meritless litigation, and efforts in states like California to regulate crop protection products in a way that conflicts with federal law and congressional intent. These efforts, led by the litigation industry, threaten Mississippi farmers’ best defense against weeds.   

Mississippi farmers need legislative certainty to protect access to all of the tools in their toolbox, including glyphosate. SB 2472 closes legal loopholes and ensures the federally approved product label is the law and that a company can’t be subject to relentless litigation just for following the law
