Support Clean Energy Without Taxing CA Residents

Here is a copy of the letter we will send to your lawmakers:

Dear (name),

I’m writing to you to stand against the State’s proposed flat tax on California’s newly developing lithium extraction industry – a tax that may end the industry before it can start. Lithium is so important for powering Electric Vehicles (EVs) and other technologies that play a huge role in reaching our state’s climate and renewable energy goals.

The United States produces such a small amount of lithium needed for these industries and heavily depends on foreign production. However, there is a rich supply of lithium here in California that can help put the United States on the map as the leader in the lithium supply.

We have to get almost all of our lithium for EVs from outside of the country but, if we can help the growing industry that’s available here, we’ll be helping boost the production of EVs, making affordable and accessible EV’s an even greater possibility! This flat tax will hurt the lithium industry when it needs the support most.

Please oppose the flat tax and support a more flexible, fair tax to advance California’s clean energy future. We hope you’ll join us!
