Say No to an Increased Healthcare Tax

Subj: Please Oppose SF 2464 and HSB 762

I am writing as a constituent to ask you to oppose Senate File 2464 and House Study Bill 762.

From what I understand, this bill would dramatically raise taxes on health plans that millions of Iowans depend on in order to fill a Medicaid funding shortfall. While the tax would be placed on HMOs, the reality is that these costs rarely stay there. They often get passed along to employers and individuals who buy health insurance.

Healthcare costs are already a major concern for many of us in Iowa. Raising taxes that could lead to higher premiums would only make affordability challenges worse.

I urge you to consider the impact this bill could have on families and businesses and vote no on SF 2464 and HSB 762.
