Please Oppose a Permanent Ban on Natural Kratom

Dear Legislator,

I am writing to respectfully urge you to oppose legislation that would make North Dakota’s temporary kratom prohibition permanent.

I support efforts to protect consumers from dangerous synthetic products, including concentrated synthetic 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH). However, I believe lawmakers should distinguish between these products and natural kratom leaf.

Natural kratom leaf has been used responsibly by millions of adults for decades and should not be treated the same as concentrated synthetic compounds that may present different public health concerns.

Rather than adopting a permanent blanket ban, I encourage you to pursue a science-based regulatory approach that protects consumers through age restrictions, product testing, labeling requirements, and targeted enforcement against dangerous synthetic products.
