Pass a Millionaires Tax in WA Now!
Dear [legislator],
I’m writing to urge you to say no to cutting education, healthcare, and childcare and yes to a Millionaires Tax. With WA’s current $2.3 billion budget shortfall, it’s time for the mega-millionaires and billionaires of Washington to pay what they owe our state, raising $3.5 billion for schools, hospitals, and other basic needs.
A Millionaires Tax would apply a modest tax of 9.9% to just the top 0.2% of Washingtonians, those who receive more than $1 million a year. The first million is exempt.
Working families in WA are struggling. Meanwhile, billionaires and their friends in Congress are forcing many of us to choose between groceries and health coverage, and putting more economic pressure on small businesses.
Lawmakers made good progress in making our tax code more equitable last year, but we’re counting on you to keep going! Don’t balance the budget on the backs of families who can least afford it – support a Millionaires’ Tax instead.
Thank you,
