Our Governor Must Veto HB1420

I’m writing to you today to ask you to veto HB 1420. This legislation does nothing but rewards monopoly utility companies with a sweetheart deal that exempts them from having to submit competitive bids to build new high-power electricity lines. Those lines cost billions of dollars to build, and without competition, there is no incentive to keep costs down—and consumers like me will pay the price.

Competition saves consumers millions of dollars—as much as 20-30%. But the legislature, responding to powerful special interests that want to boost monopoly utility profits, has said NO to savings. If this legislation stands, I will pay more for electricity.

Please veto HB 1420.
