Here is a copy of the letter we will send to your lawmakers:

It’s not a secret that medicines give Americans hope to live fuller, healthier lives. This is why I am deeply concerned to learn that a 95 percent drug tax that disproportionately punishes vulnerable Americans who are already bearing the brunt of COVID-19, including seniors, veterans, women, and minorities, are included in the current reconciliation package.

I urge you to vote against Speaker Pelosi’s proposed drug pricing plan. Its effects would be devastating. President Biden promised that he wouldn’t raise taxes on Americans making less than $400,000 per year, and this 95 percent tax hike on 250 common medicines is a clear violation of that promise. Speaker Pelosi is somehow marketing her plan as a solution to high-cost drugs, but it is in fact creating even higher-cost drugs at the pharmacy counter. This backward solution’ will cripple access to life-saving medications and potentially leave us without options should another public health crisis arise. Voting in favor of the 95 percent drug tax is directly voting against the lives of your vulnerable constituents. I urge you to eliminate the 95 percent drug tax and put American lives first.
