North Carolina Needs To support Their Advanced Practice Nurses
Here is a copy of the letter we will send to your lawmakers:
Subject: Please Support Advanced Practice Registered Nurses.
As the ongoing pandemic exacerbates the shortage and strain on health care providers, meeting the health care needs of this state requires innovative, evidence-based solutions. It demands the participation of all qualified providers to optimize the quality and availability of its care to its citizens – especially those in rural and underserved areas.
A valuable addition to North Carolina’s health care force would be to allow Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) to practice to their full level of education and training without current unnecessary restrictions.
APRNs have played a pivotal role throughout the entire country during the pandemic, including in North Carolina. In 2020, state lawmakers temporarily allowed APRNs to practice unrestricted. This allowed both physicians and APRNs to focus on the mass influx of seriously ill patients. With care accessibility and quality improving over this time, APRNs have demonstrated that they are an asset.
By supporting the SAVE Act (House Bill 277 and Senate Bill 249) that removes unnecessary and outdated APRN laws, you are taking a monumental step to assure better access to safe, quality health care for millions of citizens in North Carolina – especially those in rural and underserved areas.
