Let’s Oppose AB 1903
Dear [Lawmaker Name],
I’m a constituent in your district. I’m writing to urge you to oppose AB 1903 (Wicks) to protect homeowner rights over builder profits.
It would strip critical legal protections California homeowners have relied on for 25 years.
Here’s why I’m concerned:
-
AB 1903 lets builders write the rules when they build properties, leaving homeowners responsible when their construction causes defects, making homes dangerous, losing value, and requiring expensive repairs.
-
The bill limits a homeowners ability to hold builders accountable by enacting steep financial and procedural hurdles, weakening longstanding homeowners rights.
In 2015, a balcony at Library Gardens in Berkeley collapsed and killed six young people. Investigators found the builder had used improper materials that rotted over time. Under AB 1903, if those defects had been discovered before the collapse, there would have been no legal way to force repairs.
Please vote NO on AB 1903.
