Let’s extend same day voter registration

Limiting it to early voting leaves eligible voters out due to arbitrary deadlines and unnecessary barriers. Election Day Registration is a proven reform that increases turnout and ensures every eligible voter can participate.

The Legislature should act now to enact this reform so it does not need to be decided through a ballot question. Legislating this change directly is the best way to ensure a clear, well-implemented policy without delay or uncertainty.

With voting rights under pressure nationally, Massachusetts should lead by removing preventable exclusions and expanding access to the ballot.

This is a simple, urgent step to strengthen our democracy.
