Support Section 19 of the Farm Act

Dear [legislator_greeting],

As one of your constituents, I urge you to support North Carolina farmers and safeguard their access to critical crop protection tools. Absent legislative action, a potential crisis is on the horizon for American agriculture that will impact farmers across the country, and more importantly, all our dinner tables.

At risk is the availability of North Carolina farmers’ #1 tool to manage invasive weeds and keep yields high. Safe, approved tools like glyphosate are essential to North Carolina farmers’ ability to keep costs low and ensure an affordable and abundant food supply. Without glyphosate, food inflation could more than double—forcing us to pay even higher prices at the grocery store.

Yet, despite the clear science behind the safety and benefits of this technology, anti-ag activists are targeting farmers’ best defense against weeds by spreading inaccuracies about the safety of pesticides based on a single discredited report from a subagency of the World Health Organization. Ultimately, these meritless claims lack scientific basis, threaten our food supply and farmers’ livelihoods, and will lead to higher prices. Secretary Rollins has recently reasserted the importance of these tools, including glyphosate, and the FBI and USDA have said this is an issue of national security.

I urge you to seek any legislative opportunity to protect North Carolina farmers and the tools they rely on to grow our food.

We can’t allow anti-ag activists and the W.H.O. to set agriculture policy in North Carolina.

Thank you.
