I just signed the petition supporting putting an end to the sale of flavored tobacco in Clackamas County. I strongly urge you to take action on this important issue to protect the health of local kids.

Flavored tobacco products – including candy-flavored e-cigarettes, minty menthol cigarettes, and dessert-flavored little cigars – are proven to attract kids. The vast majority of youth who use e-cigarettes use flavored products.

These “starter” products can set kids up for a lifetime of nicotine addiction and serious health conditions like heart disease and lung disease. We must not forget that tobacco use remains a significant public health problem – and smoking is still the leading cause of preventable death in Oregon, killing hundreds of Clackamas County residents every year.

Ending the sale of flavored tobacco products is a reasonable step to protect the health of our county’s kids. Take a stand today and support ending the sale of all flavored tobacco products in our community.
