Here is a copy of the letter we will send to your lawmakers:

Dear Lawmaker,

I write to you today to strongly urge you to stand up for American competitiveness, jobs, and innovation during reconciliation and oppose harmful tax policy proposals. I commend President Biden and Congress for taking steps to address corporate tax reform, but the policy proposals currently on the table are discriminatory and will force future investments overseas and take American jobs with them. 

Washington has proposed measures that would unfairly tax multinational companies that do business in the U.S. While supporters argue that such proposals would target companies that cheat the U.S tax system, the reality is the proposals would only deter companies from conducting business in the U.S. The result could be an environment in which U.S. global competitiveness stalls and job growth shifts overseas, cutting the U.S. recovery at the knees. 

Known often as the “SHIELD” plan, the proposal would make it more expensive for companies to do business on our shores, shifting American opportunities and jobs overseas.  

You have the power to protect American competitiveness and jobs. Please stand up and stand against tax proposals that would leave America behind, harm U.S. job growth, and stifle innovation.
