Deliver Savings to Seniors

Dear [Lawmaker],

I am writing to you to share my deep concerns about the business practices of giant health insurance companies and their Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs). The “Big Three” PBMs control nearly 80% of the market and are all vertically integrated into mega health insurance conglomerates – UnitedHealth Group (the nation’s largest health insurer), CVS Health, and Cigna.

PBMs continue to make record-breaking profits by driving up the cost of medications and limiting access to more affordable options. Simultaneously, any cost savings that PBMs successfully negotiate do not reach patients at the pharmacy counter but are used to bolster PBM’s bottom line.

PBMs’ profit-making schemes are a major reason American seniors’ healthcare costs are skyrocketing. In fact, big insurer-PBM profits are often linked to high drug prices, meaning more profits for middlemen and higher costs for seniors who rely on Medicare.

Older Americans and their doctors agree that PBM reform is overdue, and action is needed to protect our seniors in Medicare. I strongly urge you to act now and pass the Senate Finance Committee’s bipartisan PBM reforms, S.2973 and S.3430, this year to end this corrupt scheme and deliver real savings to seniors.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
[Constituent Name]
