RE: Case Number 15-E-0302

Dear Secretary Phillips,

I am writing to you today with concerns over misconceptions regarding contract agreements between NYSERDA and the Champlain Hudson Power Express (CHPE).

CHPE is a win for New York City ratepayers. The project will lower wholesale electricity costs, saving New York ratepayers an estimated $17.3 billion over 30 years. And because its transmission lines will be fully buried, CHPE will ensure reliable power delivery during extreme weather events.

Together with Clean Path NY, the CHPE project will help New York achieve its lofty goals of deriving 70% of its electricity from clean, renewable sources like solar, wind, and hydropower.

Both projects need to move forward if New York is to continue to lead the way for the nation on combating climate change.

Because of this, I encourage you to support the contract agreement between NYSERDA and CHPE.

Thank you for your time.

Kind regards,
