I’m writing as your constituent to strongly urge you to vote NO on Senate Bills 388, 715, and 819. These bills will not only threaten grid reliability but will cause my electric bill to skyrocket.

With so much growth in Texas, we cannot afford for our legislators to drive power plants to retire or increase red tape on newly proposed power plants. That’s exactly what these bills will do. Texas businesses expect their Legislature to stand with them and pass fair laws, and your constituents expect you to protect our private property rights – these bills do the opposite.

The Legislature has made progress in making the grid more affordable and reliable. Why undo that progress right as it’s starting to pay off with no reliability issues in 2024? Our market is working – please don’t screw it up now.

If passed, these bills will increase power prices for Texas consumers and businesses, existing low-cost power plants will exit the market due to unmanageable costs, and those that remain will have to pass those costs on to me – your constituent – with no benefit in return.

Please stand for reliability, affordability, and private property rights — OPPOSE Senate Bills 715, 819, and 388.
