Vote No on HB3356

I’m writing as your constituent to strongly urge you to vote NO on HB 3356 (CSSB 715). This bill not only threatens grid reliability but would cause my electric bill to skyrocket.

With so much growth in Texas, we cannot afford for our legislators to drive power plants to retire. That’s exactly what this bill will do. Texas businesses expect their Legislature to stand with them and pass fair laws – not change the rules after the fact like this bill does.

The Legislature has made progress in making the grid more affordable and reliable. Why would you undo that progress now that it’s starting to pay off with no reliability issues in 2024? Our market is working – please don’t screw it up now.

If passed, HB 3356 will increase power prices for Texas consumers and businesses, existing low-cost power plants will exit the market due to unmanageable costs, and those that remain will have to pass those costs on to me – your constituent – with no benefit in return.

Please stand for reliability, affordability, and Texas businesses — vote no on HB 3356 and the substitute being discussed.
