Support AB 942 to Lower Our Electricity Bills

Today, many Californians are struggling to afford their everyday needs. I’m writing to urge you to support AB 942, which will finally fix an outdated subsidy that unfairly drives up electricity bills for 10 million people.

 

Right now, non-rooftop solar customers — including renters, low-income families, and seniors — are paying billions every year to cover subsidies for users of older rooftop solar units. Last year alone the cost shift was $8.5 billion. Next year, it will be higher.

 

AB 942 doesn’t take away solar; it simply ensures that the system is fair for everyone. The state already reformed this subsidy for more recent solar customers — it is past time to do the same for legacy users. This is a balanced, common-sense reform that will immediately provide members of
your community with savings on their electricity bills. Please vote YES on AB 942 to make our energy system more equitable and affordable for all Californians.
