Water is Life!
Dear Representative [X],
This year has tested our unity, but fundamental American values continue to bind us together. Right now, we need leaders like you to reject any shortsighted attempts to cut investments in America’s most treasured resource: the clean, fresh, water so many of us depend on.
One of the most impactful bipartisan accomplishments of the last few years was when lawmakers set aside their differences to pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), allocating $50 billion to cities and counties across the country to support critical water infrastructure projects.
It’s the largest federal water investment in American history, and we are so proud our leaders came together to protect water resources and infrastructure. Yet just as we’re beginning to remove lead pipes, restore wetlands, revive waterways, and shore up water treatment plants in communities across the country, some want to claw back this incredible progress.
We can’t back away now. The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) says if we don’t continue to invest in critical water infrastructure in the years to come, businesses and households will bear the brunt of higher costs, and the water quality our communities and our children rely on will suffer.
As your constituent I’m calling on you to protect and expand on these essential investments. It’s simple: Protecting fresh, clean water is about protecting America.
Sincerely,
[Signer]
