Please Do Not Decriminalize THC/Marijuana
I am writing to you today as a concerned citizen of Wyoming to express my deep reservations about the ongoing efforts to bring legalized THC / marijuana into our state. While I appreciate the importance of considering various perspectives on this issue, I firmly believe that Wyoming must resist any attempts to decriminalize or legalize THC / marijuana due to the significant dangers it poses to both individual well-being and our society as a whole.
Marijuana advocates employ numerous avenues to promote the normalization of this substance. Our state must stand firm against these efforts and ensure that users face penalties for engaging in the use of an illegal substance. Movies, TV shows, and even musicians may portray marijuana use as harmless, or the cool thing to do, but the growing body of research highlighting the physical and mental health damages caused by marijuana in its various forms necessitates a responsible approach by our justice system.
As we approach the upcoming legislative session, I implore you to consider the potential consequences of marijuana penalty reductions or eliminations and to uphold the laws that safeguard our community. We must focus on educating our citizens about the dangers of marijuana use rather than reducing penalties, which could inadvertently contribute to increased usage and a subsequent burden on our justice system.
Furthermore, I commend and fully support Wyoming’s potential legislation to ban psychoactive substances such as Delta-8 in the upcoming session. This proactive move demonstrates a commitment to public safety and the well-being of our community. Delta-8 is already hurting youth around the state; we can’t continue to let it go on.
Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I trust that you will carefully consider the potential ramifications of marijuana and support legislation that prioritizes the health and safety of our fellow Wyomingites.
