Mississippi Needs To Support Their Advanced Practice Nurses
Here is a copy of the letter we will send to your lawmakers:
Subject: Please Support Advanced Practice Registered Nurses.
Meeting the continuously growing health care needs of this state requires innovative, evidence-based solutions and the participation of all qualified providers to optimize the quality and availability of our workforce.
While other state lawmakers have taken critical steps to achieve this by allowing Advance Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) to practice to their full level of education and training without unnecessary restrictions, Mississippi has yet to act. This is despite the growing health concerns and lack of accessibility to health care for its citizens.
With access to quality health care in Mississippi already limited, the ongoing pandemic further increases the shortage of providers thus making quality care that much more challenging to access – especially in rural and underserved areas.
APRNs have played a pivotal role throughout the entire country during the pandemic, yet lawmakers in Mississippi have prevented the utilization of these safe and qualified practitioners in their ability to help patients across the state.
By supporting House Bill 440 and Senate Bill 2178 that remove unnecessary and outdated APRN laws, you are taking a monumental step to assure better access to safe, quality health care for millions of citizens in Mississippi – especially those in rural and underserved areas.
