Enact a strong Global Plastics Treaty
I urge you to adopt a strong Global Plastics Treaty to reduce the production of plastics. Specifically, please enact a treaty that:
- Sets mandatory limits on production of plastics
- Requires the removal of the most toxic chemicals from plastics
- Eliminates the most hard-to-recycle, avoidable, and other problematic plastic products
- Makes companies disclose which chemicals are in which plastics
Production of plastics is a huge and growing source of greenhouse gas emissions, and plastic pollution has been linked to everything from infertility and cancer in humans to severe injury and death in wildlife.As one of the world’s leading users and generators of plastic, the U.S. has a critical role to play in reducing plastic pollution and protecting our environment, climate, and health. Please do your part by supporting a strong Global Plastics Treaty.
