Hi,
As Congress works to pass infrastructure legislation and a budget reconciliation package, you must remember to include policies that will support America’s clean energy sector.
Congressional support for wind, solar, battery storage, and transmission investments will spur hundreds of thousands of jobs for our country’s energy workforce and drive millions in new revenue to states and host communities.
I hope you will support key reforms to enable more interregional transmission to unlock low-cost clean energy resources. Interregional lines are critical for resiliency, reliability, and keeping energy costs low for businesses and households. In a time of increasingly frequent and severe extreme weather events, these investments are critical to keeping the lights and heat across the country.
Please also support a 10-year extension of the Production Tax Credit for wind energy and an Investment Tax Credit for solar energy, battery storage, and transmission. Support for these policies will put our country on a path to reduce carbon emissions and reach the goal of 100% carbon-free electricity by 2035.
The right policies will help spur private investment that will generate American jobs, billions in new investment, and accelerate our country’s progress towards a clean energy future. Please do your part to ensure that the infrastructure and budget bills include these critical investments in our nation’s energy infrastructure.
