Delay Brockton’s Kratom Ordinance

I am writing to respectfully urge you to delay consideration of Brockton’s proposed kratom ordinance until the Massachusetts Legislature completes its work on statewide kratom regulation.

A statewide approach will provide consistent standards for product safety, labeling, and consumer protection while avoiding a patchwork of local laws that create confusion for residents and businesses.

If the City Council believes local action is absolutely necessary before state action, I respectfully ask that you pursue commonsense regulations instead of a blanket ban on natural kratom.

Responsible adults across Massachusetts use natural kratom leaf products, and public policy should distinguish these products from synthetic or adulterated substances that may warrant stricter oversight.
