Do not eliminate Security Assistance

The House is set to vote soon on a dangerous amendment offered by Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) to cut all assistance to Israel from the Fiscal Year 2027 National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs (NSRP) Appropriations Bill.

 

As your constituent, I urge you to vote NO on the amendment and vote YES on the final passage of the bill.

 

Under the 2016 Memorandum of Understanding negotiated by President Obama, the United States committed to providing $3.3 billion security assistance to Israel from 2019 through 2028. We are now in the ninth year of that agreement, and Congress has thus far never failed to ensure Israel has the resources it needs to defend its families.

 

Israel is on the front lines fighting against our shared enemies in the Middle East. Robust U.S.-Israel security cooperation is vital to advancing our mutual security interests around the world. Cutting funding for assistance to Israel would embolden our adversaries and undermine a key pillar of longtime U.S. national security policy.

 

Israel is America’s model ally—a capable, determined partner on the geographic front lines defending Western values against dangerous groups and nations committed to destroying both Israel and the United States. U.S. security assistance is a smart and cost-effective investment that helps secure our ally against mutual threats while promoting regional peace and deterrence.

 

I urge you to vote NO on Massie’s amendment and YES on the final passage of the bill.
