Protect our Veterans

I support cracking down on scams, hidden fees, and anyone exploiting veterans. But S 695 goes too far in the wrong direction. When free help is overloaded, veterans either wait or go without. Many of us need help on a real timeline, and we should be allowed to choose paid assistance when it’s transparent and accountable.

South Carolina should regulate paid help, not squeeze it out. Require written agreements and plain language disclosures up front. Put guardrails on how fees can be structured. Protect veterans’ personal data. Set qualification standards so veterans can tell who is legitimate. Make sure veterans are clearly told about free options too.
