Don’t Take Away Our Natural Gas Efficiency Incentives

Here’s a copy of the email we will send to your lawmaker:

As your constituent, I am writing to share my concerns about current energy issues affecting residents across the state. Rising household and electricity costs make affordability more important than ever for our communities.

Lawmakers are currently considering removing the EmPOWER Program. Dismantling the EmPOWER Program would jeopardize Marylanders’ ability to take advantage of incentives that boost the energy efficiency of their homes and provide jobs to over 69,000 skilled workers like union men and women who are employed working on this program to take care of their families and everyday needs.

Over the lifetime of the program, EmPOWER has saved Marylanders $272 million dollars, and removing gas utilities would not substantially or meaningfully lower monthly bills.

Ensuring that gas remains a part of this program is a critical component of long-term energy affordability.

Thank you for your attention to this issue. I appreciate your consideration and your ongoing commitment to the people of Maryland.
