Veto AB 1064

Dear Governor Newsom,
I am writing to strongly urge you to veto AB 1064. While this bill aims to address concerns
around artificial intelligence, its vague language and burdensome requirements would impose
disproportionate costs and risks on small startups—the very innovators who drive California’s
leadership in technology.

AB 1064, with its vague and duplicative requirements, creates barriers to entry for startups
developing tools for classrooms, failing to provide meaningful protections and harming students’
ability to prepare for their future. This threatens not only innovation but also critical access to
educational and community-focused technologies.

AB 1064 would stifle innovation, advantage entrenched players, and limit opportunities for small
businesses and communities across the state.

I respectfully urge you to protect California’s innovation economy by vetoing AB 1064.
