Support Section 453

Dear [Senator/Representative] [Last Name],

I am writing to respectfully urge your support for the inclusion of Section 453 in the House version of the Fiscal Year 2026 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill in any funding legislation considered by Congress. This provision is critical to preserving EPA’s science-based pesticide regulatory process and ensuring the continued success of American agriculture.

Right now, modern farming technology is under nationwide assault from radical activists, utilizing dubious science to seize upon the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) Commission’s work, using it as an opportunity to advance an anti-farming agenda driven by emotion rather than scientific consensus.

American farmers depend on the EPA’s rigorous scientific evaluations for safe, effective tools to manage invasive weeds, maintain crop yields, and protect the sustainability of their land. These farming innovations are the product of decades of scientific research and are central to delivering a reliable supply of affordable, nutritious food to American families.

Unfortunately, efforts are underway by the same radical activists to bypass EPA’s science-based regulatory framework and impose fragmented, state-level pesticide labeling mandates. These actions contradict the overwhelming consensus of scientific experts and threaten to erode the regulatory clarity that farmers and consumers alike rely upon.

Section 453 reaffirms EPA’s role as the scientific authority on pesticide approvals. It ensures that regulations remain grounded in consistent, evidence-based standards—while still preserving states’ rights to enact local sale and use restrictions under current law. More than 365 agricultural organizations nationwide support this language, recognizing it as essential to maintaining agricultural productivity and regulatory certainty.

Without this provision, farmers could eventually be forced to revert to outdated practices that are less sustainable, more costly, and ultimately harmful to both producers and consumers. The resulting disruption would impact food prices, family farms, and the resilience of our national food system.

As your constituent, I urge you to stand with American farmers and food security by supporting the language of Section 453 in any appropriations legislation considered by Congress.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
