I’m writing to strongly urge you to oppose LD 1777, which would seriously undermine Maine’s community solar program.

This bill would charge unreasonable and unfair fees on solar projects that are already operating or being built, and it would strip away savings that families like mine count on. Retroactively changing contracts sends the wrong message to Mainers and to anyone looking to invest in our clean energy future.

Community solar works—it lets renters, working families, and small businesses access lower energy costs without needing to install panels. It strengthens our grid and reduces our dependence on outdated and expensive energy sources.

If LD 1777 becomes law as written, it would destroy one of the most effective clean energy solutions we have. Maine should be focused on expanding community solar, not penalizing those who are already participating in it.

Please vote NO on LD 1777 and protect energy choice, economic opportunity, and climate progress in Maine.
