Help Lower Prescription Costs by Supporting PBM Reform Legislation
Lawmaker Letter: Help Lower Prescription Costs by Supporting PBM Reform Legislation
Dear [Member of Congress/Representative/Senator],
As your constituent, I urge you to lower out-of-pocket costs for seniors at the pharmacy counter by passing the bipartisan reforms in S. 2973 and S. 3430. The time for Congress to act is now.
Every 26 seconds, someone in the US is diagnosed with diabetes. Ninety-eight percent of people living with diabetes rely on prescription medications to manage their care, but harmful Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBM) practices can limit access to needed treatments and increase barriers to care.
This bipartisan legislation will:
- Lower Out-of-Pocket Costs for Seniors: Ensure that discounts and rebates negotiated by PBMs go directly to patients at the pharmacy counter, reducing their out-of-pocket costs and putting much-needed savings in the hands of those who need them most.
- Increase Competition and Remove Incentives that Drive Up Costs: Eliminate incentives to favor more expensive medications by delinking the fees PBMs charge from the list price of drugs.
- Improve Much-Needed Transparency: Bring critical transparency to PBM practices, ensuring they operate in the best interests of patients rather than prioritizing their own profits.
I urge you to act before the end of the year to provide relief for people living with diabetes and other chronic conditions by supporting S. 2973 and S. 3430.
Sincerely,
XXXX
