Reject Kratom ban in N. Carolina

Dear Legislator:

I am writing to express my strong opposition to recent legislative considerations calling for a ban on kratom in the state of North Carolina. History has shown bans on substances like kratom do not work. Bans result in a prolific black market with untested and unsafe products. 

Instead, I support statewide regulations of kratom in North Carolina. As a resident of North Carolina, I want to ensure access to safe and quality kratom products. Regulations will accomplish that aim. 

The legislature should take time to consider the implications and consequences of a kratom ban. This is a complex issue that requires a considered approach by all involved. The public and the scientific community need to weigh in on this issue. 

With clear guidelines, consumers are protected, informed and maintain access to safe products. 

Model state legislation includes provisions for mandatory testing to ensure that kratom products are free from harmful contaminants and are accurately labeled with transparent information about their contents and potency. Additionally, the proposed age restrictions will prevent access to minors and promote responsible use among adults. 

I urge you to support statewide regulations of kratom and advocate for swift implementation. By prioritizing consumer safety and well-being, North Carolina residents can access quality kratom products while minimizing the potential risks associated with unregulated producers.
