Support HR4564

As one of your constituents, I am writing today to ask you to support H.R. 4564, the Countering Hate Against Israel (CHAI) by Federal Contractors Act.

As you know, there is a concerted effort to Boycott, Divest from, and Sanction (BDS) Israel in the hopes the Jewish state will crumble. This antisemitic movement should not be supported by our taxpayer dollars. That is why thirty-six states in the union have advanced anti-BDS measures. Now it is time for the federal government to follow suit.

The CHAI Act would prohibit federal entities from contracting with companies that boycott Israeli companies and those with whom they do business – nothing more, nothing less. This would put the federal government on par with 36 states from around the country that have implemented similar policies. Moreover, despite arguments to the contrary, the courts have already found that nearly identical state-level, CUFI-backed anti-BDS contracting legislation passes Constitutional muster.

The Jewish state is among our closest allies in the world. The US and Israel share the same values. Both nations put a premium on life, liberty, and individual freedom. And both countries fight the same radical Islamic terrorists that would seek the destruction of our Western way of life. Entities that profit from taxpayer dollars should not be allowed to simultaneously undermine American and Israeli security.
