Support Mass House Bill 2899 Today!
I am writing in strong support of H.2899, an important piece of legislation that invests in the future of social work in Massachusetts. This bill strengthens our workforce while maintaining the high professional standards that protect the public.
If enacted, H.2899 would establish a field placement grant program for MSW students, easing financial barriers and opening doors for a more diverse and representative workforce, one that truly reflects and serves our communities.
The bill also takes a thoughtful, comprehensive approach to workforce challenges by:
- Exploring a certification for child welfare workers at the Department of Children and Families,
- Expanding retirement benefits to improve retention, and
- Supporting supervision by offering continuing education incentives.
Importantly, these initiatives move forward without compromising licensure standards, ensuring that Massachusetts families are served by highly educated, ethical, and well-prepared professionals.
I urge you to support H.2899 as a hopeful, solutions-oriented measure that builds a stronger, more diverse social work profession while keeping public safety at the center.
Thank you for your leadership and commitment to Massachusetts communities.
